THE UNION

  • The Union on Garey, formerly the YMCA building (originally built in 1922), has been historically restored by Spectra Company and is proud to be a part of the Downtown Pomona community. Located in Pomona’s Arts District and centrally located to the Metrolink and Foothill Transit Stations makes The Union’s location ideal for both local and visiting populations.

  • The Union is also home to The Cathedral and features three different sized event spaces for a variety of uses such as concerts, weddings, parties, private and non-profit events. This venue is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and host an assortment of event genres.

    The Cathedral’s unique combination of historical architecture and modern technology gives it a versatility unlike any other event space in the Greater Los Angeles area.

THE UNION ON GAREY | OWNER

Founder and president of historic restoration company Spectra Company, Ray Adamyk and his team have worked to preserve some of the most iconic properties in the Western Unites States, including the Pantages Theatre, Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, El Capitan Theater & The Biltmore Hotel. Today, the 150-person company is considered the largest historic preservation company in the Western United States.

He recently has taken on one of his largest projects, the restoration of Salem Chapel in St Catharines, Canada which is the last stop of Harriet Tubman’s Underground Railroad. This intimate chapel is near his childhood home and after visiting a few years ago, he began working with them to help restore and retell the story of this historically significant space.

In 2017, Ray purchased and restored the Lassie House in Pomona, California, and later purchased and began restoration in 2019 on the Union and The Cathedral (Old Pomona YMCA). These investments are part of a greater vision to connect the community to events, programs, and resources to bring hope, love, and engagement to a socioeconomically challenged region. 

Ray Adamyk lives in Pomona, California with his wife, Michelle. He is part of a regular hockey league, enjoys boxing, hiking, and occasionally jumping from his two story house into his pool!
